The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is pleased to announce that Class Of Your Own (COYO) has become an Associate Member. The announcement follows a meeting of the Council held in October 2014.
Speaking after the meeting, Tony Burton, CIC Chairman, said: “I warmly welcome Class Of Your Own as Associate Member of the Construction Industry Council. I have long been an admirer of the inspirational work being done by Alison and her team, and it is my sincere hope that industry will wholeheartedly embrace and offer its support to COYO, DEC and Adopt a School Scheme, in addressing the skills shortages we face. It is only by working as one that the construction industry will attract the talent that we need to deliver the economic, sustainability and climate change imperatives that lie before us.”
Alison Watson, MD at COYO said: “We’re proud to be recognised and supported by the Construction Industry Council. So much of what the CIC stands for is absolutely in line with our own ambition to promote a sustainable built environment that is valued by everyone – young people, their parents, and their teachers. Our mission to enable young people from all backgrounds to explore the wide range of aspirational career pathways in construction relies on the help of industry leaders if the skills gap is to be bridged effectively. CIC members represent a diverse construction industry, and we sincerely look forward to working in partnership to highlight their excellent work in Britain’s schools.”
Graham Watts, CIC Chief Executive added: “CIC and its members look forward to working with Alison Watson and the Class Of Your Own team to support and develop the excellent work that she has begun.”
