Grace Construction Products has published its first set of BIM standard details and BIM objects for the company’s Preprufe pre- and post-applied waterproofing membranes and Hydroduct cavity drainage. These objects and details meet BS8102:2009 Code of practice for waterproofing protection of below ground structures. The library is now available to download for free from the NBS National BIM Library, RIBA Product Selector and the Grace website.
For a number of years, Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been changing the way buildings are being designed and constructed. Available in BIM software format Autodesk Revit, Grace’s BIM details and objects provide an essential source of digital information that will allow more accurate project planning, modelling, specification and cost projection.
Grace has created its BIM objects in line with the most rigorous, reliable and trusted industry standards. Specifiers now have free and unlimited access to the highest quality BIM objects of the Grace range of waterproofing systems for integration into 3D building models.
“BIM represents the future of specification,” said Duncan McLeod, BIM Project Manager at Grace Construction Products. “It was the natural next step for Grace Construction Products.”
In addition to launching BIM objects Grace has produced a library of their latest standard details in BIM format to provide maximum service to designers, contractors and applicators.
McLeod added: “Our standard details provide customers with Grace detailing components which the user can adapt to their model and use within their own substructure design. With the use of BIM, our clients will be able to amend and integrate a wide range of waterproofing design options as the project progresses.”
These new BIM details and objects complement the renowned technical service from Grace. Building on years of experience, Our Grace experts work with project teams to develop appropriate waterproofing strategies in accordance with BS8102 and advise the correct detailing of the company’s industry leading products.
“Grace has always operated on the principle of helping our customers to succeed and the adoption of the BIM technology is a logical next step,” said Richard Finn, Sales Director- West/South Europe, Turkey & Africa at Grace Construction Products. “BIM allows us to combine this powerful tool, our deep knowledge and technical support with the Grace range of advanced solutions demanded by increasingly complex and critical substructure projects around the globe.”
In an industry where advanced technical knowledge and cutting edge technologies are fast becoming industry standard, BIM is changing the way construction professionals work. With the integration of Grace’s new BIM standard details and objects, it is now easier than ever for designers, contractors and specifiers to design and install the highest performance waterproofing solutions from Grace.
