HIGH performance foam tapes from ISO-CHEMIE have been specified for improved all round sealing at a stunning new private house near Fareham on the Hampshire coast.
Villa Aalto, designed by architect Carl Leroy Smith, will benefit from ISO-CHEMIE BLOCO 600 tapes to provide a highly effective sealing solution with weather protection to over 600pascals, equivalent to force 11 driving rain.
The tape has been installed as an integral part of the Velfac 200 aluminium and wood composite windows’ contemporary styling. The striking villa is built on the site of a former bungalow and features a glass reinforced plastic flat roof and a combination of white silicon-based render, cedar wood clad elevations and an eye-catching Iroko wood framed veranda.
Quick and easy-to-apply, the self-adhesive ISO BLOCO 600 tapes can be used to seal joints ranging in width from 1mm to 42mm providing excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties – it can accommodate a temperature range of -30° to +90° and is impermeable to driving rain with a minimum of 600 Pa, making it one of the best performing tapes in its class.
Portsmouth-based carpentry and window installation specialists Westcott Construction Ltd, an approved installer of Velfac Windows, carried the installation work. Director Jeremy Westcott said: “This is one of the most interesting yet demanding window installation projects we have completed. The tape has had to blend in seamlessly with the building while providing long-term, high performance sealing in the harsh coastal environment. ISO-CHEMIE’s tapes are great, providing all this and more to meet the requirements for an easy-to-install, cost effective and very reliable all round sealing solution.”
ISO-CHEMIE also offer the BLOCO-ONE tape, which comes with a 10 year performance guarantee and provides up to 70% cost savings when compared to other three component systems, enables windows and doors to be quickly and easily sealed from inside the building. This avoids the need to use time consuming and costly external access systems like scaffolding and ladders, and provides guaranteed high performance sealing for the lifetime of the window.
The internal air tight seal has been tested at 1000 Pa pressure difference (20 times more than UK Building Regulations) and tested to achieve 0.00 m³ of air loss. At the same time, depending on tape width, it will also supply a U-Value as low as 0.55W/m2K and reduce sound by up to 63 dB, straight from the box. Product complies with energy saving regulations (EnEV) on windows and doors as well as the RAL quality assurance association and is able to accommodate extremes of temperature changes – from -30°C to + 80°C.
