Professionals, architects and contractors from across the construction industry gathered for some thought-provoking and in-depth debate at The British Rigid Urethane Foam Manufacturers’ Association (BRUFMA) first annual conference held on the 14th July.
Themed Building Performance: Homes and Beyond, the inaugural event at the Building Centre in London provided the perfect platform for debate, discussion and knowledge share around issues that affect the industry, with an emphasis on the effective design of better performing buildings.
An engaging presentation about what design brings to housing saw David Lawrence of Flanagan Lawrence Architects stress the importance of making buildings for the future that not only need to be aesthetically pleasing but also need to be performance oriented.
The conference also saw Executive Director of the BRE and BRE Group, Guy Hammersley highlight global challenges, the value of BIM and how we can use technology, combined with performance products of the future, to improve construction efficiency.
Commenting at the event, President of BRUFMA Kevin Bohea said: “Our first annual conference was a great success and brought together a broad spectrum of industry insiders for some fascinating and insightful debate. The speakers carried very significant messages about why the correct use of insulation is important to the future of building performance.”
BRUFMA is the representative body for the PIR Insulation Industry in the UK. Its membership comprises all of the major companies in the industry, including manufacturers of finished products, suppliers of the various raw materials and associated services. The industry supplies more than one third of all insulation products in the UK and is the largest sector by value.
